Product Description
Yamaha neoHD Media Controller With Wi-Fi
One reason Yamaha has enjoyed the No.1 ranking in the AV receiver market is that we listen to our customers. Various surveys have told us that "simple operation" and "simple remote control" are top priorities. Developing the neoHD Media Controllers with their simplified remote was our answer to these requests. As a quick glance shows, the NeoHD Media Controllers are completely different than ordinary AV receivers. By allowing customers to easily operate their whole entertainment system, which can include a wide range of sources, and providing high quality surround sound even from just two speakers, neoHD has tremendous appeal.
The Basic Concept is Simplicity
The Center of a Large Entertainment System
Not only can the Media Controller seamlessly control a large number of sources, it can function as an IR remote control junction. Three IR outputs allow wireless control of up to six other AV components. For example, you can operate a TV, a Blu-ray player and a game system using the neoHD remote control. A vast IR code library is built in, and the remote has sophisticated code-learning capability.
Less Remote and Less Buttons
No more multiple remote controls sitting on the couch or coffee table. Now you need only one! And people who are intimidated by large remote controls with many buttons will like this one. In addition to power, volume, channel and mute buttons, it has just a few others plus a cursor for making selections via the on-screen interface. The message is: "Not complicated! and Family friendly!"
Simple, Attractive GUI
In keeping with the overall design concept, the GUI (graphical user interface) is clean and simple, with cool, minimal graphics. It provides activity-based operation, which is more natural than just selecting from text menus. You simply select Watch, Listen or Play using the remote cursor, then choose the desired source. All the other menus, such as song lists, are also easy to view, understand and make selections from. In addition, this attractive GUI provides high quality images, such as iPod or Rhapsody album cover art.
Convenient Virtual Remote Control
neoHD can display pop-up menus and a virtual remote control on the bottom of the screen. They are unobtrusively overlaid on top of what is on the screen. The pop-up menus provide quick access to various functions. The virtual remote control makes it easier to control connected components.
neoHD: Unconventional Design
Unconventional Design
One look tells you that neoHD takes front panel design in a completely new direction. The concept of "simplicity" has been given visual form. The remote control is also much simpler than the usual types. One reason for calling them "Media Controllers" rather than receivers is to emphasize this difference. This will appeal to those who are wary of conventional front panels packed with buttons.
Simplified Rear Panel with Sufficient Inputs
We have done away with the complex-looking rear panels crammed with input jacks. For the neoHD units, we have included only necessary inputs, which are still sufficient for building a large system (up to six video sources). All video signals are up-converted to HDMI. Therefore only a single HDMI cable is necessary for TV connection.
AIR SURROUND XTREME: Great Sound From Only 2 Speakers
AIR SURROUND XTREME is dramatically different than other two-channel "surround" systems. It delivers enveloping surround sound, with clear dialogue from the front, and other sounds to the sides and the rear. Naturally, customers may choose to add a subwoofer to get powerful bass from multi-channel music and movies. neoHD can also output multi-channel sound for use in a 5.1 channel system, and is compatible with the latest high-definition multi-channel sound formats like Dolby TrueHD for the full surround experience.
Activity Based Operation
Watch
To watch a movie or TV, you simply select "Watch", then select the desired source, then initiate playback using the remote control or the on-screen virtual remote control. Thanks to the Automatic Operation Flow function, after the activity is selected, three operations are handled automatically: 1)the selected device is powered on, 2) the neoHD input changes to that device, 3)the DSP mode changes accordingly.
Listen
To listen to an iPod, radio, etc., you simply select "Listen", then select the desired source, then initiate playback using the remote control or the on-screen virtual remote control.
Play
The Play mode allows you to play video games or view photos. In this mode, you also have the ability to enjoy pictures (via USB drive or PC) along with music to create truly personalized slideshows. A great feature for home parties!
Initial Screen
Initial Screen allows you to customize the way neoHD starts up. At the touch of a button, neoHD can be powered on and set to play back any source without navigating through the menu system. By simply pressing the Power or Control button on the remote control, a series of events will take place automatically. In addition, you can set the screen to be displayed on the TV monitor when the Power or Control button is pressed.
Intuitive Setup
On-Screen Wizard
The On-Screen Wizard guides you step-by-step through the setup. Available for everything from speaker setup to remote control programming, the On-Screen Wizard makes setup simple and straightforward.
Setting Favorite TV Stations
You can store up to eight favorite TV stations and recall them easily using the virtual remote keys.
Remote Code Learning
Even if your remote codes aren't found in the internal IR database, the codes from other remote controls can be easily programmed into the neoHD remote control or the virtual remote control.
neoHD Special Benefits
Enjoy Unlimited Music Sources Via PC or Internet
The YMC-700 links to a computer via Wi-Fi or Ethernet. Using Windows Media Player 11, the user can stream PC music content (MP3, WMA, WAV and MPEG-4 AAC), listen to Internet radio (MP3, WMA), and access the Rhapsody digital music service. A TwonkyMedia server PC software license key is included to support Mac computers and MPEG-4 AAC format.
Adaptive DRC (Dynamic Range Control)
Yamaha's Adaptive DRC technology automatically adjusts the dynamic range of the sound according to the volume that is selected. Adaptive DRC refines the dynamic range parameters to make low volume sounds easier to hear (narrower dynamic range) while retaining the massive feeling of high volume sound (wider dynamic range).
CINEMA DSP
Yamaha's CINEMA DSP technology is far more sophisticated than ordinary surround sound systems. Using massive acoustic data and powerful processing techniques, you will hear sharply detailed, precisely located sound that is actually closer to what the director intended you to hear. Music sounds truly live because the music programs use acoustic data recorded at famous entertainment venues around the world. Games are also more fun with dynamic surround sound.
Compressed Music Enhancer
When music is encoded in a digitally compressed format such as MP3, frequency response suffers in the high and low ranges. Yamaha employs sophisticated digital signal processing with exclusive algorithms, enabling faithful reproduction of the original music.
